The Hardware-
I decided to use Oracle’s free tier for my setup partly due to it meeting my requirements but mainly due to the fact that it was free, significantly reducing running costs.
I chose to use their AMD Standard.E2.1.Micro instance this was mainly due to the availability in my area but I also considered that it was x86 based which meant I would not encounter any issues due to it being an ARM based Processor
The Software-
I chose to use Ubuntu as my base due to my much higher familiarity with Debian based systems. I could have chosen a more lightweight operating system, this would have meant that the web server would have more resources free for itself however familiarity and ease of use where my main priorities.
I decided to use word press to run my website mainly for simplicity and having a nice GUI to access, I did consider writing it myself but I decided against it.
